Which of the following happens first?
A. Menarche
B. Menopause
C. Ovulation
Menarche
The first menstrual cycle is called menarche. This starts the fertility period in the life of a female. Post-menarche, the female body typically prepares for a possible pregnancy every month. Each month, an ovary releases a mature egg by the process of ovulation. If the egg is not fertilised, it is shed off along with blood during menstruation. This cyclic process continues until a female reaches her late 40s or early fifties. During this time, the cyclic changes stop permanently. This is called menopause and this marks the end of a female's fertility period.
