Pyrethrum is a highly effective natural insecticide, which has been used for centuries against all manner of insect pests. It is produced by the pyrethrum daisy, Tanacetum cinerariifolium, a member of the Asteraceae family. It is concentrated in the flower head. The active substance is six esters, known as pyrethrins, which work in combination to kill insects and protects them.
Rotenone is an odourless, colourless, crystalline ketonic chemical compound used as a broad-spectrum insecticide. It occurs naturally in the seeds and stems of several plants, such as the jicama vine plant and the roots of several members of Fabaceae.
