The nephron is the functional unit of the excretory system. It is made up of 2 parts - renal or malpighian corpuscle and renal tubules. Proximal convoluted tubule (PCT) is called proximal because it lies near to the malpighian corpuscle.

Efferent arteriole is a branch of the renal artery that drains blood away from the glomerulus. It is the connecting vessel between the glomerulus, peritubular capillaries and vasa recta. Vasa recta are the blood capillaries that surround the loop of Henle and are 'U' shaped. Peritubular capillaries are the blood capillaries that surround the PCT and DCT.
