Which of the following is/are not the postulate(s) of the cell theory?
Cells can be made in the lab with some chemicals.
Some living organisms are not made up of cells.
The cell theory was proposed as a result of the meticulous observations and inferences of two German scientists - Schleiden and Schwann. They concluded that all living organisms are made up of one or more cells. However, it was Rudolf Virchow, in 1855, who explained that cells divide and give rise to new cells and gave the theory its final shape. Hence, the postulates of cell theory were laid as follows:
-Cells arise from pre-existing cells.
-Cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life.
-All living organisms are made up of one or more cells.
