Which of the following is correct with respect to an ecosystem?
In an ecosystem, the organisms in different trophic levels are classified into producers, primary consumers (herbivores), secondary consumers (carnivores) and tertiary consumers (top carnivores) depending upon their feeding relationships in the food chain. Generally, a greater number of producers are needed to support the primary consumers and a relatively higher number of primary consumers are required as the source for the secondary consumers. Therefore there are more producers generally than the primary consumers.
