Model of the structure of atom had been first proposed by J. J Thomson. In his alpha ray scattering experiment it is observed that most of the alpha particles are undeflected, few particles are slightly deflected and few particles bounce of nucleus. But he failed to explain the reason for the scattering of these few alpha particles. This is a drawback of the Rutherford's atomic model.
