Question

Which of the following pairof gases cannot be separated by diffusion method? & why?

Solution

Dear Student,
Those gases can be separated by diffusion which have large difference in molecular weights because according to graham's law of diffusion , the rate of diffusion of any gas depends on its molecular mass.
The pair of gases give in option (b) CO2 and NO2 have nearly same molecular weights hence they cannot be separated by diffusion.
