Rutherford proposed that electrons revolve at high speed around positively charged nucleus. But when a charged particle is under acceleration, it emits continuous radiation according to electro magnnetic theory. Eventually the electron will fall in the nucleus and the atom will collapse.

Hydrogen atom gives line spectra when subjected to electric discharge at low pressure which could not be explained by the rutherford's model of atom.

He also proposed that electrons revolve around the nucleus in the fixed orbits. But the model cannot specify the distribution of electrons in orbits.
