Which of the following statements is not true?
Primary follicle up to the antral stage is stimulated mainly by LH alone.
The growth of the primary follicle up to the antral stage is stimulated mainly by FSH. FSH secreted by the pituitary stimulates the follicles of the ovary to release estrogen. Elevated levels of estrogen reduces the production of GnRH by the hypothalamus which in turn, reduces FSH production by the pituitary by a negative feedback inhibition. The largest vesicular follicle survives when FSH levels decrease as they have more FSH receptors which make it sensitive to FSH even at low concentrations.
