Open in App
Solution

  1. Soap solution is an example of a colloid while sugar solution is a true solution.
  2. Solution: It is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances making a clear solution. Example: Salt solution and sugar solution.
  3. Colloid: It is a mixture in which one substance is dispersed in another substance. Example: Milk, soap solution and shaving cream.
  4. The particle size of a colloid is much greater than that of a true solution and hence scatters a beam of light.
  5. This phenomenon of scattering of light by colloidal particles which results in making the path of light visible is known as the Tyndall effect.

Therefore, soap solution being a colloid scatters the beam of light.
