Which of these is NOT a part of EDI?
Trading partners, data segment, encryption all are part of EDI.
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is the transfer of data from one computer system to another by standardized message formatting, without the need for human intervention. EDI permits multiple companies possibly in different countries to exchange documents electronically.
Trading partners in EDI:-
EDI is regarded as the standard for the electronic exchange of documents from one company to another. An EDI business partner is simply another company that you exchange documents with. Most OEMs will have a large network of business partners which are referred to as 'Trading Communities'.
Data segment in EDI:-
A segment in an EDI transaction set is a group of like data elements. Each segment begins with a segment ID that describes the type of data elements that follows. The elements within each segment are separated by a data element separator.
Encryption in EDI:-
The trading partners would use the public key of the company, to encrypt the EDI file. Click here to download a sample program that will encrypt an EDI file. Once the EDI file is encrypted, it can then be sent to the trading partner via the Internet.
