Which of these scenarios would result in the formation of identical twins?
One egg is released, one sperm fertilises with it, and the resulting cells formed divide into two balls of cells, each of which develop separately.
One sperm cannot be fertilised by two sperms! This would result in 69 chromosomes in the zygote, and therefore this would not develop further. In identical twins, the zygote formed, divides into several cells, and this ball of cells divides into two balls of cells, each of which develop individually. Since both these groups of cells have originated from the same egg and sperm, they will be identical.
