Solution
The correct option is C Dilation of pupil
Opiates are derived from opium which is dried latex of unripen capsular fruits of Papaver somniferum (poppy plant). It has bitter taste and heavy smell. It is eaten and smoked. The effects of opiates are analgesic, narcotic and sedative. They slow down respiration, impair digestion, cause constriction of pupil of eye, cause nausea and vomiting, poor pronunciation of words (slurred speech) and drowsiness or feeling of sleep.
Hence, dilation of pupil is not a symptom of opium addiction.
