Solution
The correct option is B Oosphere
•Synergids are the haploid cells which are generally two in number. They are present laterally to the egg cell. The synergids along with the egg cell constitute the egg apparatus present at the micropylar end of the embryo sac.
•Antipodal cells are present at the chalazal pole of the embryo sac and are generally three in number.
•Oosphere is the egg cell or ovum present in the egg apparatus. It is the non motile female gamete with which the male gamete gets fused and results in the formation of a diploid zygote.
•Central cell is a diploid cell present in the centre of the embryo sac. It consists of two polar nuclei which get fused to form a diploid secondary nucleus. Central cell on fusion with the male gamete results in the formation of a triploid primary endosperm mother cell.
Hence, oosphere is the female gamete in the embryo sac.
