Solution

The correct option is C [Ni(NH3)6]2+
Option (D) is correct.

In [Ni (NH3)6]2+ complex, the oxidation state of Ni in the complex is +2

Ni has outer electronic configuration of 4s2,3d8 therefore, Ni2+ has outer electronic configuration of 4s0,3d8.

Electrons are always removed from the 4s atomic orbital first. Ammonia is a weaker ligand so inner electrons do not pair up.

This results in sp3d2 hybridisation and formation of outer orbital complex.
