The phenomenon which includes the syngamy of one male gamete with the egg cell and the other with the two polar nuclei in the central cell, is called double fertilisation.

After double fertilisation, the zygote further develops into the embryo by the process of embryogenesis and the central cell after triple fusion becomes the primary endosperm cell (PEC) which will develop into endosperm . Also, maturation of ovule(s) into seed(s) and ovary into fruit occur. All these events are collectively termed as post-fertilisation events.
