Open in App
Solution

The human brain is divided into three portions: - forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. The forebrain is front portion of the brain. It consists of the cerebrum, thalamus, and hypothalamus. The cerebrum is the most developed part of the brain. It is the most prominent portion of the forebrain forms the major part of the brain and of the human brain. It is a spherical structure and is made up of two large, deeply convoluted (folded) parts called cerebral hemispheres. These two cerebral hemispheres are separated by a deep cleft which longitudinally divides the cerebrum into two halves. As this deep cleft passes longitudinally through the cerebrum, the two cerebral hemispheres formed are called the left & right cerebral hemispheres. Each cerebral hemisphere is further divided into four lobe- frontal, parietal, occipital & temporal. Hence there are 2 frontal lobes, 2 parietal lobes, and 2 temporal lobes in our cerebrum. The cerebral cortex of cerebrum contains three major type of areas: - motor areas, sensory areas, and association areas.
