Type II Restriction enzyme:
In recombinant DNA procedures, type II restriction enzymes are commonly used.
Type II enzymes cleave inside symmetric (or 'palindromic') DNA sequences of 4 to 8 base pairs in length.
They are the simplest and smallest restriction enzymes, with a length of 250-350 amino acids.
