Solution

The correct option is A

Wheat and Gram

Clayey soil when wet, it is densely packed, poorly aerated, and difficult to work. When dry, it can crack, causing damage to roots and even ejecting plants from the soil altogether. So it is not suitable for cabbage, carrots and other roots vegetables as it restricts the spreading of roots due to dense packing of soil particles.

For growing cotton plants the soil must be good at draining water and should be well aerated, a mixture of loamy and sandy soil is therefore preferred for growing cotton plants. This mixture will have good water draining properties due to loamy soil and good aeration due to sandy soil.

The soil that drains water easily is good for growing pulses. Therefore, loamy soil is preferred for growing pulses.
