Question

While preparing a temporary mount of cheek cell, what happens to the excess of glycerine.

Open in App
Solution

Glycerine is hygroscopic and does not allow the mounted material to dry. While preparing a temporary mount of a human cheek cell, proper care has to be taken while placing the drops of glycerine. Excess of glycerine on the slide is difficult to remove, but can be removed using a blotting paper. Excess of glycerine can cause smudges, which is likely to interfere with the sealing process.
