White blood cells are called 'soldiers of the body. Why?
Open in App
Solution
WBCs or Leucocytes are irregular, amoeboid, phagocytic cells with one to many lobed nuclei.
WBCs help in fighting diseases by engulfing (phagocytosis) or destroying the pathogens and are hence called 'soldiers of the body'.
They are also responsible for producing antibodies that neutralize the harmful effects of germs.
