1855
. This presented the idea that all
cells arise from pre-existing cells.
Thus, the cell theory comprises of following postulates:-
1) All organisms are composed of cells and cell products.
2) All metabolic reactions take place in cells, Thus, cells are structural and functional unit of life.
3) All cells arises from pre-existing cells.
4) Every organism start its life as a single cell. Viruses are exception to cell theory.
