Why are different products obtained when molten and aqueous are electrolysed with inert electrodes?
Step-1 In Molten ions:
When molten Magnesium chloride is electrolysed with inert electrolytes,
Step-2 In Aqueous ions:
When aqueous Magnesium chloride is electrolysed with inert electrolytes,
Step 3: Products obtained during electrolysis of molten and aqueous using inert electrode
Molten gives ion during electrolysis at cathode and ion at anode.
Aqueous gives Hydrogen gas at cathode and oxygen gas at anode.
