Question

Why are moon and planets considered as non-luminous objects.

Open in App
Solution

  1. Luminous Bodies emit their own light energy themselves. For example, stars, glowing bulbs, burning candles, lighted torches, etc.
  2. Non Luminous Bodies do not emit light energy of their own but reflect the light energy falling on them. For example, metals, stones, trees, bushes, furniture, houses etc.
  3. Moon and planets do not produce light of their own, they just reflect the light of sun.
  4. So they are called non-luminous bodies.
