Question

why are neurones called excitable cells

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Neurons are called excitable because they are capable of generating and conducting electrical impulses called as nerve impulses. These impulses travel in the body to transfer information from one organ/cell/tissue to another. Neurons are excitable cells because their membranes are in a polarised state.
