why are proteases secreted in an inactive state . ?

Dear student,
Proteases are secreted in an inactive state so that they could not damage the organ when there is an absence of food in that organ. Thus, preventing them from digesting the proteins present in their stomach wall or intestinal wall. These enzymes are activated only in presence of food.
