Question

Why can't we hammer a nail by its head on the wood

Open in App
Solution

The head of the nail is flat and have more area,so the pressure(force/ area) on wood by applied force will be very less, with this pressure its unable to hammer a nail into the wood.

We require pointed nails so that they can produce high pressure with the applied force,so the nail can easily penetrate into the wood
