Why can't a cell survive without a nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

Nucleus:

  1. The nucleus is said to be the control center of all the eukaryotic cells.
  2. It contains DNA, which regulates protein and enzyme formation in the cell.
  3. It also functions in controlling gene expression and regulating other functions performed by the cell.
  4. It guides the cells to divide.
  5. Hence, in the absence of a nucleus, most of the eukaryotic cells will not survive.
  6. The mature red blood cells of humans that are devoid of a nucleus, have a shorter life span.
