Question

Why conductivity of dilute HCl is greater than Acetic acid?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Strong electrolytes possess greater conductivity than weak electrolytes since they can dissociate completely from their respective ions than weak electrolytes since they possess only a partial dissociation.
  2. Among Hydrochloric acid(HCl) and Acetic acid(CH3COOH), Acetic acid is weak electrolyte and Hydrochloric acid is a strong electrolyte.
  3. Hence, Hydrochloric acid has higher conductivity than Acetic acid.
