Why did the British Parliament start taking note of the English East India Company's activities in India?

Due to bad policies of English East India such as doctrine of lapse and many others, revolt of 1857 was happened. After this first war of independence, British parliament feared of loosing it's hold from Indian subcontinent hence they start taking notes of the English East India Company's activities in India.
