Women became central o the reform movement in India because all social evils practised in the Indian society was revolved round the women.Child marriage, sati, purdah system, dowry, female infanticide etc were practised with gave physical and mental torture to women .Hence social reformers like Raja Rammohan Roy, ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Dayanand Saraswati, Jotiba Phule, Padita Ramabai etc raised their voice to eradicate all social evils practised to torture women.The even established schools for women education.
