Question

Why do all gases obey charles law at low pressures and high temperatures?

Open in App
Solution

Charles law is followed by ideal gases. In reality, no gas is ideal. Real gases can behave as ideal gases at certain range of temperature and pressure. At low pressure and high temperature, real gases behave as ideal because at low pressure the volume of the molecules tend to become negligible as compared to the total volume of the gas and at high temperature the intermolecular forces between molecules become less significant therefore, satisfying the postulates of Kinetic Theory of Gases and so the gases behave ideally and follow Charles law .
