Question

Why do birds fly off a high tension wire when the current is switched on?

Open in App
Solution

as long as they are not short circuited or earthed , there is no harm to birds however the current flow in HT lines causes a radio noise hissing sound and vibration in the line causing birds to fly off. this is due to the resistence offered and transmission loss in HT lines.
