Question

Why do frogs lay eggs in hundreds ?

Open in App
Solution

Frogs lay eggs in hundreds-reason:

  1. Female frogs lay hundreds of eggs because the chances of survival of each egg is less.
  2. All of these eggs do not get fertilised.
  3. Since they lay sperms in the water, most of them get washed away due to water movement. Thus, fertilisation of the eggs become difficult.
  4. Other aquatic organisms may feed on the eggs as well.
  5. Even if the eggs get fertilised and they form larva, they can be eaten by other organisms, thereby affecting the formation of new frogs.
