Like bees and butterflies, male mosquitoes are pollinators that feast on flower nectar. Also, the mouth parts of male mosquitoes can not pierce the skin of human or animal ( as they lack teeth at the tip of labium which are required for piercing the skin). The saliva of the female help to lubricate the opening of the mouth part used for sucking the blood. Its saliva and the injury due to bite cause the stinging sensation that make us aware of the bite.
