Why do plants appear green?
Open in App
Solution
Chlorophyll:
Plants can synthesize their food with the help of chlorophyll pigments found in leaves in the presence of sunlight by the process of photosynthesis.
These chlorophyll traps light energy and converts it into chemical energy.
It absorbs all the constituent colors present in the white light except for the green color.
The green color is reflected, and the leaves of the plants appear green in color.
