Why do prokaryotes have no nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

Prokaryotes:

  1. Prokaryotes are unicellular organisms that are devoid of a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
  2. The prokaryotic cytoplasm carries the genetic material in the form of DNA which is usually round in shape.
  3. They also carry additional DNA content as plasmids that encode proteins which aid in their survival in host systems.
  4. The DNA isn't membrane-bound and is concentrated in a region of the cytoplasm referred to as the nucleoid.
