Throughout Asia, the bamboo plant is revered as a potent symbol of longevity and good fortune. But in northeastern India's Mizoram state, there's one bamboo species, that causes dread. The flowering in these plants bring in rats and that sets off another kind of fear. As flowering season gets over, these rats start moving towards cities and the fear of plague looms high.
