Question

Why do we see flames initially when coal is burning but not in later stages?

Open in App
Solution

A flame is a hot glowing body of ignited gas that is generated by something on fire. So, if a flame is present, it means the source is emitting small amounts of flammable gases. In the case of coal, as soon as the volatile matter from the coal disappears, the flames go away.
