It was difficult to use carts in the Silk Route because of treacherous terrain. The Silk Route that connected Asia, Europe and Africa and was used mainly to transport Chinese silk, passed through several countries and numerous mountain ranges. Owing to such difficult terrain, it was difficult to used carts in this route.
