Nuclear waste is a radioactive waste and is a byproduct from nuclear reactors. These types of wastes release radiation which can cause mutations and thus cancers at a very high rate.

Part 2: Harmful effects of disposal of nuclear wastes
Nuclear waste is usually disposed of in shielded containers and buried within rocks. People have objection to this because:

• If not properly protected, leakage can happen causing disastrous effects.
• The water table, if present in or near to the burial site, can get contaminated.
• In case there are earthquakes, the nuclear waste can leak out.
• There is also a possibility of terrorism.
