Question

Why does Activation Energy need to be reduced?

Open in App
Solution

Activation Energy:

A reacting molecule requires energy to get converted into a product and the minimum amount of extra energy that helps in converting is called Activation energy.

Catalysts:

Catalysts increase the reaction rate by lowering the activation energy required for the reaction to occur.

Enzymes:

Here enzymes act as a catalyst by lowering the bond and activation energy required to start the reaction.

Hence when the activation energy of the required reaction is reduced, the rate of reaction is faster.
