a. Non cooperation movement was proposed by Gandhi to be unfolded in various stages and become a nation wide struggle
b. Gandhi hoped that it would become a nation wide movement generating support from all sections of Indian society as it progressed and developed
c. As per his proposal, he set out stages of unfolding the movement, which would include:

1. Surrender of titles
2. Boycott of schools and colleges
3 Boycott of council elections
4. Burning and boycott Foreign goods
5. People discarded foreign cloth and encourage the use of khadi

​d. He then proposed that if the colonial government retaliated in a repressive manner, a nation wide civil disobedience would be launched
e. Accordingly Gandhi proposed that movement would spread from city to countryside assuming nation wide dimension.
f. In this way Gandhi , proposed that we would gradually cripple the British administration and that it would collapse within a year
