Why does it snow in jammu kashmir why nit in mumbai

Jammu and Kashmir is located in the higher altitude and in the Himalayas. We know that the higher the altitude the colder is the climate. There occurs a decrease in temperature by the end of October and the cold weather starts which becomes intense by January with the snowfall.

Mumbai is at a lower altitude and hence warm place. The mean temperature here is very high.
