Question

Why does the colour of copper sulphate solution change when an iron nail is dipped in it?


Solution

Due to formation of Iron $$(II)$$ sulphate which is of green colour, copper sulphate solution changes its colour. 

$$\underbrace {CuSO_4}_{(Blue)}+Fe^{2+}\longrightarrow \underbrace {FeSO_4}_{(Green)}+Cu^{2+}$$
