Open in App
Solution

Seed germination

  1. The process by which an organism emerges from a seed or spore is known as germination.
  2. The phrase is used to describe the growth of a pollen tube from a pollen grain of a seed plant, the sprouting of a seedling from an angiosperm or gymnosperm seed, and the creation of a sporeling from a spore, such as the spores of fungi, ferns, or bacteria.
  3. Seed germination is a significant cycle that impacts crop yield and quality.
  4. This phenomenon is observed due to the fact that the seed utilizes the stored food in it until it can photosynthesize later.
  5. The mass increases or increments as the seed develops new leaves which can photosynthesize.
  6. Hence, the stored food in the seed is utilized, and the dry mass also increases.
