Why does the near point of an eye increase with age?

Solution
The ciliary muscles that keep the eye lens in place weaken with age, and the lens loses its elasticity. Therefore, the power of accommodation of the eye decreases with aging.
The near point eventually recedes for most elderly persons. Without corrective eyeglasses, they have difficulty seeing nearby items comfortably and clearly.
Shortening of the eyeball or loss of the eye lens power, resulting in an increase in the near point.
