Question

Why dry hydrogen does not contain ions?

Open in App
Solution

Dry hydrogen gas is simply H2(g) that does not contain any water vapor. When you have subtracted out the vapor pressure of the water, the remaining pressure is said to be the pressure of dry H2.
As there is no water vapour or water present in it, it cannot be ionised to obtain ions.
