Question

Why electrical appliances in our household are not connected in series?

Open in App
Solution

  1. In a series connection, all the appliances are joined in line. The total voltage of 220 V gets divided amongst all appliances.
  2. If any of the devices are faulty and stops working, it will start behaving like an open circuit and thus rest of the devices will also not function.
  3. Therefore, in domestic circuits, devices are never put in series.
