Question

Why is a lightning conductor pointed?

Open in App
Solution

Lightning leads to production of large electric current. The strength of electric current is greater around pointed objects. When lightning occurs, the current is attracted to the pointed conductor and from there it directly flows into the ground. This is the reason for a lightning conductor having pointed ends.
